The “Provisional Rules on Price Control of Sanya’s Catering Industry” has gained approval from the Sanya government yesterday. This comes in a bid to standardize the price order of Sanya’s catering industry, protect the legitimate rights and interests of the consumers, and promote the sustainable development of Sanya’s catering industry.

According to the new rules, operators who are engaged in the catering industry in Sanya will have to set prices according to the new regulations. The operators include those who run restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, fast food chains and noodle shops in Sanya.

New rules decree that operators must sell dishes, snacks, drinks and wine at expressly marked prices. Meanwhile, food prices should be written on the unified price cards, and be placed in a prominent position where they can be seen.

Aside from this, the catering industry operators can not invent all pretexts to justify arbitrary charges. Imposing a minimum charge on consumers, charging for tableware disinfection fees, corkage fees, air conditioning fees and seat fees are strictly prohibited.

In addition to this, operators who gang up to manipulate the market prices will be punished in accordance with the law.
