Since the first fair-price vegetable supermarket opend for business last March in Sanya, the fair price of vegetables in 6 urban supermarkets have long enjoyed a high sales volume.

The 6 supermarkets are Wanghao Supermarket, Fuleduo Supermarket, Tiancheng Supermarket, Nanguo Supermaarket, Baijiahui Supermarket and Wanghao Supermarket in Sanya International shopping center.

However, the overall sales of the first 4S fair-price greengroceries on the outskirts of Sanya have been essentially flat since March 2011, when business first started. The main reasons that have lead to the relatively low sales of 4S greengrocers are its remote location and lack of traffic. Those that live there are mostly from North China, and when they go home after the weather turns warmer in their hometown, traffic flows in the suburb will decrease sharply.

In the six urban supermarkets, however, the opposite has occured. 5,000 kg of fair-price vegetables are supplied to stores every day there, and customers can only buy 10 kg at a time.

Journalist have been told that the prices at Wanghao Supermarket in Sanya International Shopping Center are 20-30 percent lower than that at the farmers market.

Because of this, the Sanya municipal government has decided to set up nine more fair-price greengroceries this year to supply citizens with vegetable of higher quality but lower price.

The 9 new stores will be held at Fuleduo Supermarket in Hongqi Street, Hongsha Community, Xihe West Road, Danzhou Community, Commerce Market in Linchun, Farmers Market in Honggang and Yuechuan Community.
