In order to protect Sanya’s intangible cultural heritage, the Li pottery techniques, which is a project of Li Pottery Village in Tianya Town, Sanya has now completed construction of the village and it is open to public for free.
 
In the village, more than hundred female elders are involved in the pottery industry, mainly producing items such as vats, basins, jars, bowls, pots, and so on. Sometimes these pottery products are carved with various patterns, including animals and plants which are of high value either for appreciating or using.
 
The construction of Li pottery village will not only help tourists understand traditional village culture, but will help the people who live on the outskirts of Sanya.
 
Li pottery cultural village will become a new spotlight of Sanya folk customs and will attract tourism. Tourists will not only have the opportunity to get close to the techniques used in local Li pottery and Li brocades, but also can enjoy Li singing and dancing performances as well as the delicious cuisines, said a spokesman for the government of Tianya Town.
