Construction on the rail section between Sanya International Phoenix Airport and Sanya Railway Station of the Hainan Western Ring High-speed Railway has now officially started, according to documentation approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources.

The Hainan Western Ring High-speed Railway has been listed as one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Hainan. The entire rail line stretches to a total 342.26 km, with a total investment of 26.9 billion yuan.

The railway line will start at Haikou, and will pass through the cities of Chengmai, Lingao, Danzhou, Changjiang, Dongdang, Ledong, Yacheng and Sanya. The whole project is expected to be completed within 4 years.

The Sanya section of the railway spans a length of 10.3 km, and will have a top speed of up to 250 km per hour.
