Toll-free policy brings self-driving tours boom in Sanya
The toll-free policy on China’s expressways, which has been in effect since Monday, has brought on a massive increase in self-driven tours to Sanya.
During the holiday, the number of tourists choosing self-driven tours in Sanya has increased markedly. On Monday alone, 1,400 self-driven vehicles drove into the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone. Most of them had driven from southwestern cities like Guangxi and Guangzhou.
The numbers of tourists arriving in Sanya continue to grow as the festival progresses. On Monday the average occupancy rate in hotels in Sanya reached 70.83%, a slight increase from previous days. As of yesterday afternoon, Sanya Duty-free Shop had received 4,700 tourists.
According to the Sanya tourism authority, the average room occupancy rate is expected to increase on the following days’ and will be at its peak on October 3rd and 4th.
The number of self-driving tours in the next two days will greatly increase and roads will see an increase to 25,000 vehicles daily. .
Aside from this, the Sanya Phoenix Airport plans to operate an additional 108 flights in order to meet the higher numbers of passengers flying during the festive period.
