The China Tourism Research Institute and a leading domestic travel agency have jointly released a list of the top 10 most popular tourist destinations during the National Day holidays, ranking Sanya at No.1 on the list of the most popular private individual tour destinations.

The other nine popular tourist cities are as follows: Xiamen, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Xian, Jiuzhaigou, Qingdao, Guilin and Lijiang.
 
The result of list is based on data collected from tourist reservation statistics regarding hotels, flights and tourism products during the National Day holidays.
 
In addition to this, Hainan has topped the list of the most popular island holiday destinations, followed by Phucket, the Maldives, Bali and Jeju.
 
Compared with previous years, the cancelation of highway tolls in some provinces and the price decline of admission tickets to scenic spots implemented in the tourism market will bring a surge of private tours during this week-long holiday.
