Recent statistics have revealed that Sanya received 814,700 domestic and overseas tourists in August, up 3.5% from the same period of last year, according to information from relevant departments. 

Of the total, 777,300 were domestic tourists, up 4% compared with the corresponding period of last year while 37,400 were from overseas, down 6.4% from the same period of last year.
The tourist arrivals brought the city 1.277 billion yuan in revenues, an annual increase of 3.8%. 
 
With regards to the hospitality industry, the hotel occupancy rate in the city stood at 56.8%, a year-on-year decrease of 6.2%. 
 
Over the past eight months, Sanya has seen a total of 6,902,400 tourist arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%. The tourism revenue for the period totaled 12.445 billion yuan.
