Drafted by Sanya tourism officials, the planned cruise tour between Sanya and Sansha has already passed evaluation by an expert panel and is awaiting endorsement by the provincial authorities. 
 
Under the plan, the cruise route will begin at Phoenix Island of Sanya and head to Yongxing Island. 
 
The cruise route is part of the 10-year cruise tourism development plan for the city. 
 
The Sansha tour will become not only an ocean cultural tourism but also a patriotic tour, said Wang Xingbing, a Professor of the China Tourism Research Institution.
 
Moreover, authorities revealed more cruise tours will be launched to Nansha and Zhongha islands and their surrounding waters to explore the beauty of the South China Sea in the future
 
The plan also has also suggested specific regulations on the cruise tonnage, travelling routes and the passenger handling capacity for the protection of the Yongxing islands' environment.
