In the afternoon of 16th November, an airplane with over 150 passengers on board, operated by Malaysian Firefly Airlines, landed at Haikou Meilan International Airport, marking the official launch of the Kuala Lumpur-Penang-Haikou chartered flights.

According to reports, the launch of chartered flights was part of efforts by Hainan government to promote tourist markets in South-east Asia.

The Kuala Lumpur-Penang chartered flights will run once a week and will greatly shorten the travel time between Hainan and Malaysia.
