Sanya is accelerating the construction of cultural industry, which has been listed among the 12th-Five-Year Plan period.
 
A total of 17 key cultural projects like People's Cultural Palace, Sanya Grand Theater and a youth fitness center are under construction now.
 
Chen Jinwen, deputy director of Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee of Hainan Province made the remarks during a recent tour of Hainan Animation Base, Sanya Library and Sanya Arts & Cultural Hall.
 
Chen said key cultural projects should be developed, and that these projects should serve as a major driving force for the development of city’s cultural industry.
 
In 2011, seven 24-hour self-service libraries have been set up in the city. To improve service efficiency and meet the spiritual and cultural demands of residents and tourists, another 12 libraries are expected to be added at Sanya’s airports, schools, restaurants and streets this year.
