Local travel agencies in Sanya will open more chartered flights to attract overseas tourists in the second half of this year in response to a series of preferential policies launched by the city government.

In the early days, the Hainan tourism bureau signed an agreement with South Korean travel agencies to develop some featured tourism products. Chartered flights which will run 2 times a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays will resume starting on September 29.

As Russian tourists have become the majority of foreign visitors to Sanya, the biggest Russian tour agency, PEGUS, is also planning to operate more direct international flights each month in the hope of increasing the number of tourist arrivals.

Sanya Shengda International Travel Agency, which currently operates the Almaty-Sanya route, will add an Astana-Sanya route in October.
