Authorities in Sanya have proposed to limit the number of motorbikes to regulate traffic in the city centre.
There are nearly 10,000 motorbikes operating on the roads since the motorbike registration came to an end in 2004.
Meanwhile, with more traffic accidents associated with electric bicycles, a new measure on the e-bike registration system will be introduced by local police to punish the riders who break the traffic regulations.
Currently, Sanya has more than 120,000 electric bicycles on road and 92% of them are oversized.
