Hotels in Sanya are expected to carry out reasonable room rates during the peak tourist season, according to a conference held on the topic of the tourism-dependent city.
 
Local authority pointed out that seasonal increase is very obviously seen in the hospitality industry as hotels will take advantage of the situation by increasing room rates.
 
However, with such high supply in August, many hotels in Sanya are experiencing the decline in occupancy due to the remaining high hotel prices
 
Meanwhile, without internationally competitive prices, tourism market is showing a slight decrease with regular international flights to Sanya operating at low capacity.
 
“Price hikes for a certain period is quite a common thing, But if hotels start doubling the room rate which is not based on the tourism market. Tourists will get the wrong impression about high prices in the city, said Chen Tiejun, the Vice Director of the Provincial Tourism Development Commission.
 
Besides, hotels are encouraged to put more focus on assuring quality of service in order to avoid damaging Sanya’s reputation and making it known as a city of expensive hotels.
