The flights from Hainan Province to Taipei and Kaohsiung amounted to 15 weekly since direct chartered flights between Taipei and Sanya were launched last September. The increased flights deepen the two sides’ communication and cooperation in culture, tourism, business and trade whilst at the same time promoting bilateral tourism during this summer vacation.

The chartered flights, opened last September, greatly boosted the number of Taiwan tourists to Sanya. According to related statistics, Sanya received 27,479 Taiwan tourists in 2011, which was 55 percent more than that of previous year, and Taiwan Province received 46,000 tourists from Hainan in 2011, 61 percent more than that of previous year.

Mr. Han, staff member of Hainan Special Zone International Travel Service, said that July’s group travel to Taiwan had already been sold out and the August’s group travel was still under reservation.

The summer vacation’s group travel to Hainan was also popular with Taiwan tourists. Several famous travel agencies in Taiwan expressed that the growing reputation and beautiful scenic areas of Hainan had attracted lots of tourists there.

"We will try our best to cater to the Taiwan customers’ needs and introduce more travel services to let Taiwan customers have a comfortable summers vacation in Sanya,” said Tang Sixian, deputy chief of Sanya Tourism Bureau.
