According to the Comprehensive Enforcement Bureau of Sanya on 10th July, a total of 2,662 illegal buildings with total area of more than 2.21 million square meters have been demolished in Sanya since the “Hammer Action”, which aims to crack down on illegal buildings, was launched in July, 2010.

Sanya handled 787 illegal construction cases in the first half of 2012, demolishing 372 illegal buildings with 200,000 square meters total area, said Zhou Naiwu, the director of the Sanya Comprehensive Enforcement Bureau.

The illegal buildings on the demolition list are mainly located in the key project area in Sanya, as well as Phoenix town, Jiyan Town and Yacheng Town. Sanya still has a long way to go in cracking down on illegal buildings, said Zhou.

Moreover, statistics show that a total of 30 people involved in illegal constructions have been punished during the crackdown.
