The iPad ordering system lets customers know exactly what they are getting and for what price.

Only 3 seafood restaurants in Sanya have bought and implemented the new iPad ordering system, as of 5th July, 2012.

As implemented a month ago, seafood restaurants in Sanya are now required by the local government to use iPads to enter customers’ food orders to prevent overcharging.

183 seafood restaurants were finally confirmed to enter the monitoring system. The seafood street in Sanya Bay was used as a pilot street at the end of May.

Sanya Binhai Best-quality Pot Restaurant, one of the 3 restaurants who have been using the iPad ordering system, has invested RMB30 thousand to purchase a touch screen, 2 iPads, and 5 dish-ordering systems.

The prices for the basic purchases will be more than RBM 11 thousand, and at least half of the cost will be paid by the restaurant owners.

"It’s the first time that we have built an info network system externally, and it sets a precedent in China,” said the director of Sanya Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, “the most effective function of the system is to ‘take evidence’ if there are cases where tourists and the restaurants have disputes over the bill.”
