According to the Haikou Convention and Exhibition Bureau, the number of convention and exhibition events totaled 122 in the first half of 2013, 55.5% of the year-round programs, and a year-on-year increase of 30%.

With the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island, the exhibition industry in Haikou has enjoyed rapid development in recent years, with the number of convention and exhibition events increasing from 7 in 2002 to 83 in 2011 to 205 in 2012, enjoying average annual growth of 30%, 20% above the national average.

Thanks to supportive policies and promotion activities launched by the Haikou government, the city has formed an initial exhibition industrial system and owns nearly 50 exhibition enterprises.

The Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center in the city, since it was put into operation in 2011, has successfully held a series of well-known events including the 23rd National Book Expo, China (Hainan) Marine Industry Expo, China Winter Trade Fair, as well as the 8th Pan-Pearl River Delta Conference.

According to the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, the 4th China Gene Industry Conference and the 10th China International Logistics Festival are to kick off there from November 13th to 16th and November 20th to 22nd respectively.
