Sanya is striving to turn itself into a world-class tropical costal tourism destination.

On 29th June, a tourism promotion conference themed “Sailing into the world–Sanya” was held in Paris, France.

The conference, jointly organized by the Sanya Tourism Development Committee and Sino-France Culture and Art Exchange Center, was held on a pleasure-boat named “Parisian” on the River Seine.

According to Liu Liling, the deputy director of the Sanya Standing Committee, Sanya received more than 10 million overnight visitors in 2011, up 15.11% from the previous year. The throughput of the Sanya Phoenix International Airport exceeded 10 million last year. Many amongst this number hailed from European countries including France.

Aiming at internationalization and openness, Sanya is striving to turn itself into a world-class tropical costal tourism destination, said Liu.

Meanwhile, the secretary general of the France National Tourism Council said that the tourism promotion conference let more people in Paris know about Sanya, and professed great interest in Sanya’s efforts for internationalization.
