Sanya launches maritime emergency rescue drill on coastal sea

A maritime emergency rescue drill was carried out on Sanya coastal sea areas on 26th June. 16 ships from 14 companies with more than 230 people took part in the drill.
The rescue drill kicked off at 9:00am. 4 tourists fell into the sea, while a remaining 19 tourists and 6 sailors were in a dangerous situation when two cruise ships, Sunburst No.9 and Phoenix Star No.2, collided with each other during the simulation.
The Sanya Maritime Search & Rescue Center immediately came to their rescue with 14 vessels. The drowning people were transferred onto the Sunburst No.9 as a quarter of Phoenix Star No.2 was on fire.
After confirming the overboard passengers were safe, the rescue team put out the fire on 2 rescue boats with fire fighting foam and water. Afterwards, they rushed on-site for the clean-up operation.
