Sanya took the first place among China’s top 10 popular tourist destinations during the past 3-day Duanwu Festival holiday, reports Xiamen Economic Daily.
 
Duanwu Festival, or Dragon Boat Festival, falls on 23rd June this year, usually marked by eating Zongzi and racing dragon boats in China.
 
According to a latest list released by Ctrip.com, a leading travel portal in China, Sanya, a seaside tropical city in Hainan province, snatched first place on the list, followed by Beijing, Xiamen, Guilin, Lijiang, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou.
 
Meanwhile, the top 10 hottest outbound tourist destinations were: Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangkok, Tokyo, Taipei, Bali Island, Phuket Island, Singapore, Maldives and Osaka.
 
Sanya has always been amongst the forefront of China’s major tourist cities in the tourism popularity and tourist satisfaction index and always highlighted the construction of tourism projects in an effort to attract tourists at home and abroad.
