Yili’s Mercury-laced milk powder taken off from shelves in Sanya
Batches of Quan You baby formula produced for babies aged 2, 3 and 4 were detected to have an unusual level of mercury, announced China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) on 14th June.
Yili Group started to recall the milk powder produced between November 2011 and May 2012 after the statement released by AQSIQ. It was found that baby formula for babies 2, 3 and 4 years old had already been removed from the shelves in Nanguo, Wanghao and several other supermarkets in Sanya.
There wasn’t any trace of Yili’s milk powder in Nanguo supermarket, reported Sanya Morning News on 15th June. “Yili’s milk powder was removed from the shelves because of a high level of mercury, but we have other brands of milk powder for you to choose from,” said one staff member in Nanguo supermarket.
