Sanya ‘4-star’ Hawaii Hotel was found cheating consumers
On 8th June, a tourist from Sichuan informed Sanya Tourism Committee that Hawaii Hotel at Dadonghai tourist site was cheating consumers by claiming to be a 4-star hotel. Further investigation showed the hotel was a 3-star hotel at first and lost ranking after it was refitted.
According to a female visitor from Sichuan province, she lodged in Hawaii Hotel because she was told it was a 4-star hotel.
Moreover, the 4-star sign in front the hotel indicated that as well.
But after she checked in, she found that she had been cheated.
According to an officer of the Sanya Tourism Committee, Hawaii Hotel was a 3-star hotel with a long history. However, with the development of hotel industry in Sanya, Hawaii Hotel had lagged far behind other well-known hotels both in facilities and services. Therefore, it was closed down and refitted before it was reopened for biasness. And now, it has been deprived of the ranking of 3-star.
Although the hotel was refitted in accordance to the 4-star standard, it can’t call itself a 4-star hotel without approval. If they do this, hotels can be punished for commercial fraud, said an officer.
As the Hawaii Hotel was caught violating rules for the first time, it just got a verbal warning and was ordered to cover up the 4-star sign in front of the hotel.
