Sanya will invest RMB270 million to fulfill 277.03 hectares (27703 mu) of landscaping in 2012, according to the Sanya Forestry Department.

Sanya completed the general planning and the preliminary work for the “Landscaping Treasure Island” project at the end of May this year. The landscaping will begin at the end of June, and is scheduled to be completed by November.

The project includes 8 main types of work such as passageway landscape engineering, construction engineering for shelter belts to protect sea coasts, village landscaping engineering, urban forest construction engineering, rivers & reservoirs landscaping engineering, ecological economy forest engineering, forest tending engineering and floriculture engineering.

They plan to invest RMB818 million to cover the overall landscaping, and in 5 years to develop 550 hectares (55,000 mu) landscapes, 1370 hectares (137,000 mu) forest, and 1 suburban forest park.
