According to Sanya Public Security Bureau on 1st June, two Russians were caught checking into a hotel with ID cards belonging to employees of a local travel agency in Haikou.

Howard Johnson Resort Hotel at Sanya Bay received 2 foreign customers at 6 p.m. on 31st May. As the 2 customers were checking in, a hotel receptionist found these 2 foreigners suspicious because the names they gave were Chinese. Therefore, the hotel receptionist called the police.

"On receiving the alarm, with the help of Howard Johnson Hotel and the information inquiry system, we finally confirmed that the identities they registered were fake”, said policeman Zhong Hao.

Further investigation shows these 2 foreigners came from Russia. The ID cards they showed to the hotel were provided by an employee of a travel agency in Haikou. These 2 Russians as well as the travel agency employee, surnamed Mao, were fined by the police in accordance to the Public Security Administration Law of the People's Republic of China.
