Passengers of the Hainan Eastern Ring High-speed Railway (HSR) worry most about safety issues during their journeys, according to a sample survey launched by the Hainan Industrial Economy Research Institute.

The top 3 concerns that passengers care about when they take a train on the Hainan Eastern Ring HSR are: safety issues (82.9%), comfort (59.5%), and speed (52.3%).

The survey shows the average age of the passengers is 30.5 years old, and 70% of them are under 35 years old.

The incomes of the passengers are mainly between RMB 2,000 to RMB 5,000, accounting for 56.7% of total passengers surveyed. The average income is RMB 3,740.

The Hainan Eastern Ring HSR was open to traffic on 18th January, 2012 after 3 years’ construction. It has greatly relieved traffic congestion and it can directly access major tourist spots including Yalong Bay, Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, Tianyahaijiao as well as the Sanya Phoenix International Airport.
