Haikou has continued to lead 74 domestic cities in China in air quality in August, according to a report by the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

In August, 74 major Chinese cities saw 33.3% days with substandard air quality, including 24.9% of days with slight pollution, 6.6% with medium pollution and 1.8% with heavy pollution.

The 74 cities include those in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan region, the Yangtze River Delta region and the Pearl River Delta area.

According to the report, the top ten cities with best air quality in August were Haikou, Yinchuan, Fuzhou, Zhoushan, Lishui, Zhuhai, Harbin, Guiyang, Kunming and Lhasa
