Sanya Xinfeng Bridge re-opens to traffic after expansion
The reconstructed Xinfeng Bridge has been open for traffic
Currently, the expansion part of Sanya Xinfeng Bridge has been open for traffic to its full capacity, which has greatly eased traffic jams on both sides of Xinfeng Bridge.
Xinfeng Bridge is one of the most important links for Hexi Road, Hedong Road and Xinfeng Road in Sanya. However, the former Xinfeng Bridge, which is narrow and crowded, was overburdened with ever increasing vehicles, especially during rush hours.
The expansion project of Xinfeng Bridge started March, 2010, with a total investment of RMB 84.6 million. It covered widening the original bridge from 15 meters to 35.5 meters and expansion of existing 4 lanes to 6 lanes including one none-vehicle lane in each direction.
According to construction workers, they will complete the follow-up projects, such as a landscaping project, in a month.
