Man executed for killing, dismembering girlfriend in Sanya
On 11th May, the high court of Hainan province executed a 26-year-old man who was sentenced to death for beating, killing and dismembering his live-in girlfriend after a quarrel.
On 31st March, 2010, Yuan Tao had an argument with his de facto wife at a rented house in Sanya. During the tussle, Yuan Tao smashed an ashtray and empty beer bottle onto his de facto’s head, knocked her onto the floor several times, and then cut the neck of his girlfriend, which led to the death of the victim.
Then Yuan Tao dismembered the body, boiled some body parts and disposed of them in the mangrove forest behind the Sanya Library and an air-raid shelter.
The high court of Hainan province upheld the original judgment after Yuan Tao lodged an appeal. The killer was executed by firing squad on 11th May, 2012.
