An agreement on resuming chartered flights between Kuala Lumpur and Haikou was recently signed during a tourism promotion campaign launched by Haikou in Malaysia.

According to the agreement, chartered flights from Kuala Lumpur to Haikou are to be re-launched in November.

After their resumption, chartered flights will run on the 16th, 21th and 26th of November, and 1st, 11th, 16th, 21st of December.

The South-east Asian region is the second largest source of inbound tourists for Hainan. However, the number of tourists from South-east Asia has declined sharply since chartered flights between Kuala Lumpur and Haikou were suspended in March, 2010.

The resumption of chartered flights is expected to bolster the number of tourists from Malaysia, officials with the Hainan Tourism Development Commission said.
