Xiamen is the second most popular tourist destinations in China for the upcoming May Day holiday, according to a recent report released by the China Tourism Academy and Ctrip.com, a leading travel portal in China.

Sanya, a seaside tropical city in Hainan province, snatches the first place on the list. The other cities listed in the top 10 include: Beijing, Guilin, Lijiang, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Jiuzhaigou, Xi’an and Chengdu.

The top 10 outbound tourist destinations are Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States and Cambodia.

Experts said the results are based on a comprehensive study and analysis of the hotels, air ticket bookings in major Chinese cities and tourist destinations, as well as web browsing and searching results.
