New int’l terminal of Haikou airport put into service in August
Haikou Meilan International Airport
On August 14th, the new international terminal of Haikou Meilan International Airport, which started construction on April 18, 2011, officially opened to international and domestic passengers.
Situated in the eastern area of the existing 100,000-square-meter terminal, the new terminal covers a total land area of 13,200 square meters, and increases the airport’s international capacity to ten flights, up from three previously.
According to Haikou Meilan International Airport, explosives detection stations have been officially set up at the entrance of the new terminal recently, in order to ensure public safety.
