Sanya was awarded the title of “China’s top 10 low-carbon cities” in 2011, with a regional gross domestic product of RMB26.387 billion, dropping 0.15% in energy consumption.

In 2011, Sanya launched energy-saving projects in 9 aspects, and put 151 LNG natural gas-fueled buses into operation. Sanya has 514 LNG, CNG energy-saving buses, accounting for 90% of total buses.

In addition, Sanya installed 100 solar energy court lamps and 450 landscape lamps in 48 urban public organizations.
