On 23rd March, the 2012 China Hotel Cleaning Forum was held in Haikou. The experts who attended the forum suggested that it is necessary to build cleaning bases in Sanya and Haikou as the Hainan hospitality industry is growing rapidly.

The theme of this forum was "Energy Conservation, Environmental Protection, Communication and Cooperation". Leading experts and representatives of the cleaning industry joined the forum.

During the forum, they discussed future development of the cleaning industry and the new changes of the overseas cleaning industry, learning more new information about low-carbon economy.
 
The secretary-general of the China Cleaning Industry Association, Pan Wei, said: “As a special domain, the cleaning industry brings more working opportunities and has a huge market potential, which attracts more and more attention. The Hainan Island currently has 209 star hotels, including 22 five-star properties. Another 20 or so were built according to the five-star standard but have yet to be ranked and more than 40 new high-end hotels are on the drawing board. The development of Hainan’s hotel industry increases the need for the cleaning industry.”
 
He appealed to the government to build a large and normalized cleaning base separately in Haikou and Sanya, and which can help to protect the environment of Hainan province.
