A mobilization conference aiming to regulate the operating standards of seafood restaurants in the city, cracking down on cheating or overcharging, was held on 22nd Mar. Over 300 people attended the meeting including representatives of the Industrial and Commercial Bureau, the Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, the Price Bureau, the Public Security Bureau and some operators of seafood restaurants.


The direct purpose of the 3-month management is to raise the threshold of seafood restaurants in the city, said Li baiqing, the deputy mayor of Sanya.


An acceptance inspection will be launched on seafood restaurants amid the crackdown, according to the Industrial and Commercial Bureau in the meeting. Those restaurants who fail to meet operating standards will be handled lawfully. Meanwhile, seafood restaurant operators should display correct price tags, otherwise they will be punished, said the Price Bureau.


According to Li, the direct purpose of the management is to raise the threshold of seafood restaurants. Restaurants whose environments, cleanliness or fire control fail to meet operating standards will not be accepted. New seafood restaurants whose premises are less than 200 square meters will be taken off the market.


Whats more, operators who threaten consumers or resist law enforcement should be held for criminal responsibilities.
