According to the China Southern Airlines Hainan Branch Company, China Southern Airlines will operate a Haikou-Chengdu-Urumqi flight route from August 13th.

The new route will build an air route network linking Haikou with countries in Central and Western Asia including Russia and Iran, and Europe via Urumqi international airport.

As well as Urumqi, China Southern Airlines currently owns two transit routes connecting Hainan with Beijing and Guangzhou, according to Mr. Wang Zheng, General Manager of China Southern Airlines Hainan branch.

With the development of the international tourism island and implementation of the visa-free policy for visitors from 26 countries, Hainan receives over 800,000 foreign tourists every year, over 25% of whom are from Russia, countries in Central and Western Asia and Europe.
