The Ministry of Environmental Protection recently released air quality reports for three key regions and 74 cities in June.

The results indicate that days with substandard air quality in the 74 cities accounted for 35.6 percent on average in June, including 21.5 percent of days with slight pollution, 8.8 percent with medium pollution, 4.9 percent with heavy pollution and 0.4 percent with severe pollution.

The ratio of days with up-to-standard air quality in 25 cities was between 50 percent and 80 percent in June, with 26 cities between 80 percent and 100 percent, and 19 cities at less than 50 percent.

Haikou, Zhuhai, Zhoushan and Harbin recorded 100 percent of days with up-to-standard air quality.

Cities with heavy air pollution include Tangshan,Shijiazhuang, Xingtai, Handan, Baoding, Hengshui, Jinan,Tianjin, Zhengzhou and Taiyuan.

The primary pollutants are PM2.5 and O3, according to the report.
