China’s National Tourism Administration (CNTA) is planning Xisha Islands tourism with Hainan province and related departments, the deputy director general of CNTA Wang Zhifa said on Wednesday.

He said it was beneficial for China’s frontier defense if we boost Xisha Islands tourism, and it will be advantageous to solve the problem of other islands in the South China Sea.

As for the rip-off phenomena in Sanya, Wang Zhifa said Sanya received 480,000 tourists during the Spring Festival holiday, the number was twice the city’s population, leading to tense supply-demand relations.

He said a surging number of self-driving tours flooded to Hainan after the construction of the Qionghai Bridge, so the above problem will constantly happen in the future. The CNTA will cooperate with related departments to guide rational travel and consumption.
