Sanya dedicates to building a low-carbon tourism hotspot
As an international destination, Sanya has always been attractive for tourists with its pristine tropical sceneries. To maintain sustainable tourism development, the city is adapting a low carbon development strategy to make it into a merging new eco-tourism hotspot.
When it comes to ecological tourism, scenic spots have carried out feasible measures to actively develop a green tourism environment.
The concept of eco parking has been widely practiced in tourist sites like Tianyahaijiao Resort, Daxiaodongtian and Yalong Bay Area which makes full use of ecological parking spaces without affecting the greens.
Recently, Nanshan Tourism Cultural Zone is among the first batch area to have drinking water facilities installed to provide free drinking water for visitors.
Besides, the government also encourages the adoption of green environmental building materials. Several major infrastructures have been the focus of the government’s green low-carbon scheme, mainly through the implementation of solar and wind energy technologies.
Transportation on the city has also undergone a review to make it more environmentally friendly with the replacement of 80 LNG buses come into service on 5 city routes.
In 2011, Sanya received over 30 million overstay tourists. With its commitment to sustainable tourism development, the city has been awarded the titles of China Top 10 Leisure Cities, Best Holiday Destination and Most Livable City.
