A new planning of remolding the old town at Hexi District to make it a regional modern and touring center has been approved, according to Sanya City Planning Bureau.

The new positioning for Hexi District Area will divided into four theme areas featuring cultural as well as commercial tourism.

Under the plan, a new modern tram line system will be built starting from Youyi Street to Jinjiling Road to advocate to the low-carbon lifestyle and reduce the growing traffic pressure in the city.

Besides, Sanya Bay Road, Jiangang Road and Hexi Road will be designed as routes for tourist sightseeing. Major coastal areas like Sanya Bridge, Mangrove Tree Park, and Xinjian Street, serving as a function of tourist sightseeing, will set up docks linking all coastal tourist sites within Sanya Bay.
