Recently, Sanya has been approved by the Ministry of Commerce as a pilot city in a bid to intensify efforts on renewable resource recycling system.
 
The renewable resource recycling system has been in trial run in 35 cities and under the project, the pilot city is expected to get national fund support of 50 million yuan.
 
Sanya is working out a recycling plan to strengthen the recovery and management of renewable resources to build an environmentally friendly city.
 
Apart from Sanya, Haikou has been confirmed as the pilot city for the program of recycling of renewable resources since 2009. At present, 2 sorting centers and 69 waste recovery sites for the recycling of renewable resources have been completed in Haikou.
