After half a month of stay in Sanya, 6 VOR fleets set off for their voyage to the next stopover at Auckland, New Zealand on Feb.19. Sanya, followed by Qingdao as the second city in China to host the biggest sailing event, has benefited much more than a showcase from the event itself.

During their stay period, over 300,000 visitors were estimated to experience the sailing race including 60 international media and 200 domestic media gathering with full coverage to promote Sanya to the world.

The game also boosted tourism in Sanya. Nearly 15,000 special guests paid the visits for the event, bringing a total consumption of 200 million yuan.

With all eyes on Sanya this month, a yacht show was held during their 2-week stay period, generating sales of 200 million yuan. In February, both of the transaction areas and sales of commercial properties increased 77% compared to the same period of last year.

Wu Yanjun, the Vice Director of Sanya stopover organizing committee said this international event not only helped bring the whole world of different countries and people to this city, but provided a good opportunity for local people to participate and promote sailing activity.
