From this month, Sanya Industry and Commerce Bureau is partnering with other 14 government departments to launch a 3-month management to regulate the operating standards of seafood restaurants in the city.

The government has carried out a detailed plan that clarifies each department’s duties to supervise the seafood restaurant‘s operations.

According to the plan, all the seafood restaurants are required to display their right price tags and strictly implement pricing standards based on the government’s average rates.

Besides, an electronic pricing monitor to prevent customers being cheated, will be required to be use dby businessmen with direct link to the official department online system before June 30.

The government is reinforcing the efforts through severe punishments on tour guides, taxi drivers and rickshaw drivers who are driven by high commissions to collect tourists from airports, train stations and hotels to the dishonest seafood restaurants.

During the crackdown, any seafood restaurants failing to obey the rules will face business suspension and the possibility of law violation punishment.

The announcement of citywide management was made after an overcharging scandal during the Spring Festival holiday where a tourist was asked to pay 4,000 yuan for 4 simple dishes at the Fulin Fishing Village Seafood restaurant in Sanya Bay Road.
