The public transport board will consider raising its bus ticket price at a public hearing being held at 3pm March 2nd, 2012, according to Sanya Price Bureau.

A total of 29 representatives from all circles will attend the hearing to discuss the bus ticket fare hike to ensure the public will be fairly informed.

The cost of taking busses to travel within city center areas including from Sanya Bus Station to Yulin Market on the east, Lvhai Garden Community on the West, Nanbianhai Community on the south and Sanya Railway Station on the north will be raised from 1 yuan to 2 yuan per person.

Besides, public transportation routes running beyond the downtown center areas, the fare pricing structure will be distance-based. The ticket price will be calculated according to the stops.

Local authorities said that the ticket price hikes are entitled to provide social benefits for certain residents, including seniors over the age of 70 and people with a disability will get free transport.
