The China Meteorological Administration's National Climate Center recently listed China’s top ten hot cities according to the annual high-temperature days in the last 30 years and Haikou was ranked 4th on the list.

Fuzhou topped the list, followed by Chongqing and Hangzhou. But Nanjing, which is also commonly believed to be among China's hottest cities, was absent from the top 10 spots in the ranking.

Changsha, Nanchang, Wuhan, Nanning, Xi’an and Guangzhou took the 5th to 10th places.

Except for Xi'an in northwestern China, all nine other cities are located along or south of the Yangtze River.
