As the most famous seaside tourist destination in China, Hainan is seeing a self-help tour slump after public outcry over high costs in seafood restaurants during the Spring Festival holiday.

According to Tuniu.com, an online travel agency, the booking volume of self-help tours to Hainan has decreased 30% after the Spring Festival, and the offer for package tours has dropped about 50%.

The industrial insider revealed that consumers have a negative impression on Sanya tours after a tourist, calling himself Luo Di, complained about the high meal costs in the Fulin Fishing Village Seafood Restaurant in Sanya.

Self-help tours to Hainan has dropped sharply while the package tour to Hainan has caught the eyes of holiday makers, due to the high satisfaction of the arrangement for accommodation and catering.

It doesn’t mean tourists will prefer package tours rather than self-help tour in the future. In the long run, the scale for self-help tours to Hainan will still keep going up.
