The iridescent clouds were captured in a photo taken on Wednesday (July 3) over the sky in Haikou.
At about 6pm on July 3, a great number of beautiful and rare iridescent clouds appeared above Haikou City.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” many locals said they had never seen such beautiful and rare clouds before.
It’s understood that these kinds of visual effects come about from the refraction of light through ice crystals in clouds from the sun’s rays. The sunshine reflected off the white clouds, forming dazzling iridescent effects on the clouds, looking like a wondrous rainbow blanketing the sky.
The fantastic scene lasted about one hour and local residents and tourists marveled in wonder and rushed to take photos
