Tourists spend average RMB2,150 per day in Sanya during CNY holiday
About 1.35 million tourists flooded to Hainan during the Spring Festival holiday, bringing more than RMB4.3 billion in tourism-related revenues, up by 61.3 percent year-on-year, according to Hainan's tourism office.
The average daily expenditure of an overnight tourist in Sanya reached RMB2,150 during the Golden Week, according to a sample survey.
Individual tourists remain the main source of guests for hotels and scenic spots in Hainan. 21 hotels in Hainan received 55,816 guests during the weeklong holiday, bringing RMB79.79 million in revenue. 10 scenic spots in Hainan received 730,000 tourists and raked in RMB60.42 million, up by 41% and 79% respectively compared with the same period of last year.
This year's Spring Festival is the first golden week since the Hainan offshore duty-free policy took effect, which has boosted Hainan tourism. During the golden week, Sanya Duty-free Store received nearly 130,000 visitors, bringing sales revenue of more than RMB62 million. Haikou Duty-free Store received more than 110,000 visitors, with 14,000 transactions made and sales revenue of RMB12 million.
