Young children aged from 7-12 can be registered to take part in OP-level sailboat training camp, which will open to them from February 8 to 12 for free as a part of the activity of Sanya Stop of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, organizers said on Monday.

OP-level sailboat is the smallest one among all the motor sailboats, featuring simple structure, cheap price and easy control. It is suitable for children. Eight five of gold medal winners in the aspect of sailing in 2008 Beijing Olympics began training with OP-level sailboats.

During the five-day training, the leading coach Chris Atkins, president of British Royal Yachting Association, will teach trainees basic knowledge about navigation and sailboats, driving skills of OP-level sailboats and the working process of sailors and meanwhile help them establish the concept of environmental protection for oceans.

According to organizers, children aged from 7-12 with good health and pretty balance, who have strong interest in sailing and some basic skills in swimming, can sign up to join in this training camp free of charge.
