3 tourists were rescued off Sanya Bay after their inflatable boat was taken out to sea by winds and the drift of the tide on 11th Jan, reports 0898.net.

The maritime rescue team from the Sanya Base of South China Sea Rescue Department dispatched a high-speed rescue boat after receiving a help call from tourists at 16:25 on 11th Jan.

At 16:50, the inflatable was found on the sea near East Islet and 3 tourists on the boat were successfully rescued.

The 3 tourists, who came from northeast China’s Helongjiang province, went fishing on the boat around 13:00 from Haipo beach. However, the boat was taken out to sea by gale-force winds and the drift of the tides. They called for help after they failed to row the boat back to the shore.

As winds are strong and variable on the sea off Sanya Bay during winter, non-powered vessels like an inflatable boat are easy to be blown to the sea. Tourists should watch out for winds and bring mobile phones with them, and call police for help in an emergency, the rescue team said.
