As the main venue for the celebration of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 Sanya Stopover, the Luhuitou Peninsula Yacht Dock is expected to open to the public on 20th Jan, 2012, reports 0898.net.
 
At present, the berth area has been completed and a large LED screen has been set up on the land area. All pavilions will be completed by 20th Jan and mascot products for the Sanya Stopover are in the making and will be launched by 18th Jan, according to the organizing committee.
 
To welcome the upcoming event on 4th-19th Feb, the Sanya organizing committee is now inviting 100 domestic and foreign media to report the event. Flags will be hung along Sanya’s main streets and shuttle bus service will be launched between the "Destination Village" and Sanya downtown during the event period. 
 
The Luhuitou Peninsula Yacht Dock will provide 330 full-service berths from 10 to 40m (LOA), also with a prestigious yacht club, cafes, restaurants, hotels, shopping streets, swimming pools, a sailing school, and other facilities.
 
The Volvo Ocean Race fleets will stay in Sanya from 4th to 19th February and the number of expected visitors including professional sailors, sailing enthusiasts and tourists will total 350,000 to come together for the world's largest sailing event.
